School Programs

Across the University’s museums, galleries and collections we provide a variety of pathways for primary and secondary students to engage in exciting transdisciplinary education programs. Experienced staff centre the student experience within our collections, sparking scientific and artistic enquiry and fostering the development of transferable 21st Century skills.

School Excursions

The Museum & Collections School Excursions program offers upper primary and secondary  Victorian schools learning programs that are inspired by the collections and exhibitions.  Excursions are co-designed and delivered by our Learning Experience Facilitators, university STEAM students and our in-house science communicators whose passion and curiosity provides a point of difference from an ordinary excursion experience.

Digital Programs

The Museums and Collection Digital Program offers remote and regional schools the opportunity to engage with the collections and exhibitions online. This program is currently in development and offers tailored experiences such as the STEAM Careers Online Forums and interactive exhibition linked tours,  workshops and resources on demand.

Outreach

The Museums and Collections Schools Outreach program offers a range of Outreach programs that address access, rural and remote barriers to learning.

SCoE (for partner schools)

Through the exciting new partnership between the University of Melbourne and the Victorian Government the STEM Centre of Excellence is now established as a new addition to the Department of Education & Training’s Tech School Branch.  This program provides 25 partner schools from four local Melbourne local government region with free STEM education and transportation capability to participate in STEM modules and exhibitions at Science Gallery Melbourne and other venues. This partnership enables the University of Melbourne to have a long-term learning relationship with local schools in its locality.
