Woodward Collection

In 1972, Yolngu leaders presented ten objects to Sir Edward Woodward, of the Aboriginal Land Rights Commission of Inquiry. The meanings expressed in the designs were representative of the concerns the ownership of Yolngu estates and their historical context. In 2003, Sir Edward Woodward gifted the collection to The University of Melbourne. Yolngu people have visited the University to view these items and they continue to be of great significance to them today.
