The Making Of an Exhibition: Emu Sky

OLD QUAD

Indigenous knowledge and practices are centred in the exhibition Emu Sky, on view now at Old Quad. With a strong focus on south-eastern Australia, over 30 Aboriginal community members share their stories, knowledge, and art practice in this exhibition curated by Barkandji woman Zena Cumpston.

The exhibition explores and illuminates Indigenous perspectives related to science, innovation, plant use, land management and agricultural practice. Through detailed research, art and storytelling this exhibition is a sustained interrogation of the Western lens through which Indigenous scientific endeavour has been historically perceived.
