Take a Kodak: The Doris McKellar Photograph Collection

Ephemeral Exhibition Space, ground floor, Baillieu Library, University of Melbourne

Take a Kodak: The Doris McKellar Photograph Collection presents a snapshot of student life from 1915-1918 through the lens of University of Melbourne student, Doris McKellar (nee Hall). The Ephemeral Exhibition Space’s two projector screens will feature her photographic collection, which has been drawn from albums of photos held by the University of Melbourne Archives. The images in this exhibition portray Doris’ personal experience at the University as she documents her friends, classmates, and the grounds themselves in a playful and entertaining way. As a collection, these charming photographs explore the nature of student life in the early 20th century, and capture the atmosphere of the early University.

A display of Doris McKellar’s photographs is also located on level one of Arts West. Visit the Ephemeral Exhibition Spaces’ website for further information about this and other exhibitions.
