The International Museums and Collections Award (IMAC) invites students from the University of Melbourne to apply for a unique exchange opportunity with the University of Birmingham (UoB). The Award recipient takes part in a month-long placement with the collections and museums of the partner university. This exceptional experience will enrich academic studies and facilitate the development of professional skills within the cultural sector.

Mentored by collection professionals including curators, collection managers, archivists, librarians and conservators, the IMAC Award recipient will have the opportunity to work on a variety of collection-based projects on campus at the University of Birmingham. They will participate in many aspects of museums and collections work, and this broadening experience will enhance understanding of the current issues influencing university collections and the museum sector.

Projects may include documentation and cataloguing, research, interpretation and public programs, exhibition development, preventative conservation/preservation and significance assessment.

The IMAC Award is offered between the universities of Melbourne and Birmingham and is supported by the U21 network. Read more about the museums and collections at the University of Melbourne and the University of Birmingham, and details on the Universitas 21 (U21) network.
