Collections Projects Program

Please note: The CPP is currently undergoing an exciting redevelopment, with the new Program to be launched in 2024! Check back in later in the year to find out more….

The Collections Projects Program offers University of Melbourne students the opportunity to work behind the scenes with the University's outstanding museums and cultural collections.

Each year the Program offers a range of carefully developed collection management and curatorial projects that engage with the museums and collections on campus. The projects provide practical professional experiences where you can acquire new vocational skills and explore areas of interest that complement your study discipline. Projects can be undertaken to satisfy a course requirement (eg. an internship subject for course credit) or as a placement. You will receive training specific to your project, and ongoing mentoring and support from collection professionals.

Projects are offered across a broad selection of the University’s 40 museums and collections and cover a wide range of areas from cataloguing and research, significance assessment and preventative conservation through to interpretation, public programs and exhibition development. The projects have real value to the cultural collections and ensure they remain an accessible, relevant and dynamic resource.
