2017 International Museums and Collections Award recipient announced

Katherine Reeve, a Masters of Research (History of Art) student from the University of Birmingham has recently been selected as the UK recipient of the 2017 International Museums and Collections Award.

Katherine has an interest in natural history collections and the intersection between art and science, and so the University’s cultural collections will provide the perfect opportunity for her to explore these areas. While in Melbourne she is seeking to expand her collection management skills and gain practical experiences in the museums sector, and is enthusiastic about working with a wide range of collections. Katherine hopes to be able to pursue a museum career that allows her to continue to engage with her passion for discovering the past. Katherine will be based with the Cultural Collections Unit from mid-July.

You will be able to follow Katherine’s cultural adventures in Melbourne via her blog, which will be accessible through the Museums and Collections website from mid-July.

The reciprocal part of the IMaC Award exchange will see a Melbourne student selected in September to travel early next year to the University of Birmingham, and similarly to work on projects with their collections and museums.
