Would you like to support the University's museums and collections? Funds have been donated by philanthropic trusts, corporate sponsors, friends groups, staff, students, alumni and many other benefactors. Their generosity has helped to acquire, preserve, catalogue, publish and exhibit the rare and special items across the University's museums and collections.
Always a generous philanthropist, during his lifetime Sir Russell Grimwade gave £50,000 towards the building of the Russell Grimwade School of Biochemistry at the University of Melbourne. Sir Russell and Lady (Mab) Grimwade's bequests continue to support many activities at the University, including the establishment of the Russell and Mab Grimwade Miegunyah Fund, which over the years has provided substantial funding for the cultural collections.
Donations to the University of Melbourne are tax deductible for Australian tax purposes:

Joining a Friends Group
Friends and members groups provide ongoing support for collections in many different ways. For a modest annual subscription, you will receive invitations to special events, regular newsletters and the substantial twice-yearly magazine University of Melbourne Collections. There are two collections friends groups at the University of Melbourne:
- Friends of the Baillieu Library
- Members of the Ian Potter Museum of Art
- Grainger Museum Members Program
Benefits to the Collections
Read about some of the ways collections have benefited from the generosity of past and current financial supporters. In particular, funds given to the collections through the University's Annual Appeal are distributed as grants across the University's many cultural collections:
